The Commercial & Chancery team consists of experienced members at every level of seniority, led by sought-after and highly skilled practitioners.
The team offers responsive advice and effective advocacy across the full spectrum of business disputes, from routine contractual matters to multi-jurisdictional and heavyweight litigation. Members act for corporates, SMEs, government and local authorities and individuals. The team’s practice areas encompass company work, civil fraud, investment and loan disputes, financial mis-selling, consumer rights and cross-border matters. Members of chambers have experience dealing with urgent applications for injunctive relief, including freezing injunctions, and are adept at working closely as part of a wider team of lawyers and professionals.
Contentious probate and trust litigation are particular specialisms of a number of members of the team, who deal with cases involving contested and competing wills, Inheritance Act claims, applications for the removal of executors and trustees, co-ownership, Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and disputes and claims relating to constructive trusts and estoppel.
Furthermore, a full range of insolvency matters, covering both personal bankruptcy and corporate insolvency are dealt with. This includes preliminary matters such as applications to restrain proceedings through to contested petitions. Our members are often involved in complex recovery actions both for and against insolvency office holders, including transactions at undervalue, transactions to defraud creditors, asset recovery and applications for orders for sale.
