Jennie Oborne represented the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police in respect of allegations of false imprisonment and battery. The Claimant alleged that police officers had chased him into a cul-de-sac before kicking him to the chest whilst he was lying on the ground. He was later found to have sustained fractured ribs and a collapsed lung. The police case was that he had obtained these injuries in an earlier altercation.
After a seven day trial, the eight person jury at the Central London County Court cleared the officers of any wrong doing.
Jennie was instructed by David McCahon and Ruby Wallace of the Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Legal Services.
