James Thacker successfully prosecuted Organised Criminal Group, including a former West Ham footballer, for conspiring to sell an antique vase stolen from the Musee des Arts d’Extreme-Orient in Geneva, Switzerland.
The priceless vase, valued for insurance purposes at USD 2.5m, is a rare Pomegranate bottle vase from the Yongle period (1403-1425) and was stolen in a burglary on 1st June 2019.
The OCG attempted to sell the vase to prospective buyers in Mayfair but were apprehended by police following a significant undercover police operation.
On Friday 18th August at Southwark Crown Court the jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts in relation to Leslie Nkhwa and Kaine Wright. David Lamming pleaded guilty at an earlier court hearing.
They will be sentenced on 13th October 2023.
