On 28th April Cobb J gave a ruling the most recent in a line of cases that have raised concern about the chronic lack of registered secure accommodation provision for children with complex needs in Re S (Child in Care. Unregistered Placement) [2020] EWHC 1012 . This ruling will be sent to the Secretary of State at the express request of the Children’s Commissioner.
This is an issue that most practitioners will have come across in recent and not so recent times and it presents both practical and legal issues – from the experience of our team in chambers it appears to have become even more acute during the Covid-19 crisis.
