The Public Law team represent parents, extended family members, intervenors, children (both via their Guardians and separately) in all areas of Public Law children work.
Our specialist advocates deal with complex cases involving non-accidental injuries, female genital mutilation, sexual abuse, radicalisation, fabricated or induced illness, serious neglect and issues of drug and alcohol abuse.
The team can also advise and act on special guardianship order applications, adoption applications and applications to discharge Care Orders.
Our barristers are experienced in representing the most vulnerable clients and children and working with intermediaries to ensure clients can participate effectively in the court process.
Members of the team appear regularly in the Family Court and High Court and are often involved from the start of proceedings up to final hearings and fact-finding hearings. The team is also used to dealing with urgent applications and short-notice hearings, including emergency protection order applications, deprivation of liberty applications and other applications under the Inherent Jurisdiction.
