Madeleine Miller has a busy practice across all of Chambers’ specialisms and appears in court on a daily basis.

Madeleine is a CPS Grade 2 prosecutor and regularly appears in the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts, both prosecuting and defending. Madeleine has particular experience in representing the police and other public bodies in applications for civil orders. She regularly appears in the Family Court in both public and private law proceedings and is regularly instructed in civil cases for both Claimants and Defendants. Alongside her court practice, Madeleine is developing a busy paper-based practice.

Before coming to the Bar, Madeleine worked as a senior employment tribunal caseworker at a trade union and as a paralegal on the Bindmans Grenfell Inquiry team. She also volunteered with the charitable initiative Vocalise, teaching debating skills in prisons.

Madeleine is particularly interested in issues of equality and diversity at the Bar.

Madeleinehas conducted trials involving vulnerable witnesses, expert evidenceand dealt with victimless prosecutions. She has experience conducting virtual and hybrid hearings

Madeleine regularly appears in the County Court in small claims and fast track trials, Stage 3 hearings, approval hearings and interlocutory applications.

She accepts paperwork instructions and can advise on liability and quantum in matters of personal injury, employer’s liability and public liability claims.

Madeleine has experience in dealing with claims for rental arrears and possession of property in the County Court.

Madeleine isalsoinstructed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Madeleine regularly represents Local Authorities andparents in care proceedings. She is instructed in Interim Care Order, Case Management, Issues Resolution and Final Hearings. Madeleine also accepts instructions in private family proceedings.

Madeleine’s experience in other areas of law, particularly criminal and police work, give her valuable insight and perspective into matters involving criminal and family proceedings. She is regularly instructed by the police in disclosure applications within family proceedings and advises on such matters.
