On 2 October 2025, William Dean and Francesca O’Neill from Deka Chambers took part in a panel discussion with A-Level students for the 2025 edition of the Big Voice London (“BVL”) Model Law Commission. The project enables 100 students to mirror the work of the Law Commission by studying a subject before identifying and proposing legal reforms.
The panel discussed the current state of the law as it relates to cosmetic surgery, including recent regulatory changes, the overlap with clinical negligence, and potential criminal liability. It was one of 12 sessions attended by the students before the final event at Westminster when they will present their proposals.
Deka Chambers has a strong connection with BVL through the Aqeel H. Noorali essay competition, which runs annually in memory of our talented colleague who passed away in 2020.
