Amelia Katz, led by Andrew Bousfield of Rose Court Chambers was instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service Complex Case work Unit in a major case involving a Chinese prostitution Organised Crime Group.
Andrew and Amelia secured convictions against all three Defendants for controlling prostitution and money laundering following a four-week trial at Maidstone Crown Court. The Defendants ran a nationwide network of brothels with over 40 phone numbers identified. It was a sophisticated operation, with numbers being changed regularly and sex workers moving locations often to avoid detection. The criminal proceeds were then laundered back to China. With silks defending the two lead Defendants, this was a prosecution that required a complex and thorough analysis of all the strands of evidence and the outcome is significant
