Laura Johnson KC and James Byrne have secured a multi-million pound settlement for a young woman who suffered horrifying avulsion injuries including the total loss of her scalp and right ear when her ponytail became trapped in factory drill.
This was a highly unusual and specialist case. It required the opinion of 21 experts covering a broad spectrum of medical, occupational and aesthetic disciplines.
The involvement of Counsel at an early stage was important to ensure that the Claimant was able to receive appropriate funding for her rehabilitation and to provide her with the best medical and aesthetic support she could obtain in order to start rebuilding her life.
Though the Claimant will never fully recover from her ordeal, the settlement has provided her with security for life and enables her to build a future for herself beyond her injuries. Laura and James were instructed by Ben Posford, Partner and Head of Catastrophic Injury at Osbornes Law.
