The Victim and Prisoners Act 2024 received Royal Assent shortly prior to the dissolution of Parliament. In further efforts to protect the public, the Act brings into force some wide ranging and impactful changes to those convicted of controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship such as how individuals are managed in the community whilst, at the same time, acknowledging, to some extent, that Imprisonment for Public Protection (‘IPP’) failed those individuals sentenced to such a draconian regime.
