To celebrate International Women’s Day, Deka Chambers held a discussion focusing on the particular issues that women face in pursuing a career in law and the effect of intersectionality on our working lives.
Our panel of barristers – Louise McCullough, Laura Elfield, Patricia Londono, Irene Sriharan and Susanna Bennett – shared their experiences, discussing the obstacles they have encountered and the importance of the support they have received along the way.
They considered how things have changed in recent years, what it’s like to come to the Bar as a second career, what it’s like to be a woman of colour in law and other issues they have faced in pursuing their careers.
