Members taking part in Cycle for Smart Works Challenge

Ten members of chambers are taking part in the Cycle for Smart Works challenge, raising vital funds this International Women’s Day.

There are two teams of five, with each team cycling 500 miles between 1st – 8th March.

Team Deka-Gones – Laura Johnson KC, Laura Begley, Jeremy Ford, Jamie McCracken and Lucy Lodewyke – will be peddling to raise funds for Smart Works Manchester.

Team Dekathletes – Andrew Spencer, Kate Lamont, Sarah Hunwick, Helen Pooley and John Schmitt – will be peddling to raise funds for Smart Works London.

They will be clocking up the miles in various ways – cycling Surrey Hills, circling Richmond Park, peddling extended commutes or whiling away hours on Wattbikes and Pelotons.

Smart Works is a UK charity that exists to give women the confidence they need to reach their full potential, secure employment and change the trajectory of their lives. They provide mentoring, coaching and interview/work clothing for unemployed women. Women are referred from Job Centres, mental health charities, women’s refuges, homeless shelters, the prison service, care service and youth organisations.
