James Thacker, leading Emilie Morrison, successfully prosecuted 5 defendants for the purchase and distribution of at least 89kg of high purity cocaine between March and June 2020 and the laundering of at least £3.5m. The Organised Criminal Network (‘OCN’) was headed by two brothers, Cavan and Jamie Hanna. They employed two trusted couriers, Anthony Dominy and Daniel Dalligan, to transport drugs and monies throughout England and a banker, Thomas Mercer, to launder monies through his business to legitimise wages to the couriers.
Cavan and Jamie Hanna were each sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment following convictions at the end of a three week trial at Woolwich Crown Court. Anthony Dominy and Daniel Dalligan received 11 ½ years’ and 10 years’ terms of imprisonment respectively following their guilty pleas on day 2 of the trial. Thomas Mercer received 54 months’ imprisonment following his guilty plea in advance of trial.
James Thacker and Emilie Morrison were instructed by Michael Phillips of the CPS Complex Casework Unit.
