On 1 September 2021, 9 Gough Chambers hosted an online pupillage information event for students and prospective applicants.
For the last year, we have been unable to offer mini-pupillages because of the pandemic and the associated reduction in in-person court hearings and conferences. We have, however, remained eager to meet some of the aims of holding mini-pupillages, including by informing potential applicants of the realities of practice and working at the common law Bar. The event this week took the form of short talks on the experiences of common law pupils, the sort of work undertaken in the early years of tenancy at 9 Gough Chambers and a recent relevant legal development. There was also a question and answer session involving more than 50 questions on a wide range of topics.
9 Gough Chambers typically invites applications for up to two pupillages annually, although that was interrupted last year by the pandemic. Future application rounds will be advertised on the chambers website as well as the central Bar Council advertisement page.
