Laura represented the family of Robert Munroe at an Inquest on 22nd August. Robert, or ‘Bobby’, was sadly killed in a road traffic collision on the A127, Prince Avenue in Essex, on the morning of 2nd December 2016.

Robert was riding his motorbike in the outside lane of the dual carriageway when a flatbed lorry pulled out into his lane, this resulted in Robert colliding first with a panel of the lorry and then with the crash barrier on the central reservation and then passing under the lorry’s wheels. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

The driver of the lorry was arrested at the scene but no charges have been brought thus far. The police’s evidence at the inquest was that Robert was going faster than the 40pmh speed limit on that stretch of road. Laura asked questions of the police officer who provided a report to the court on behalf of the family, the officer confirmed that Robert would have been visible in the lorry’s mirror when he commenced his manoeuvre. The coroner recorded that Robert died as a result of a road traffic collision.

The inquest was reported in local media, please see the press coverage below:
